The Astaris Foundation for Change was created to bring light into the lives of those facing hardship, trauma, and adversity. The name Astaris is inspired by ancient Greek and Latin roots for “star” — a universal symbol of hope and guidance. For us, it represents transformation: even in the darkest moments, there is always the potential for new beginnings and brighter futures.

Our guiding belief is captured in our tagline: “From darkness, stars are born.” Just as stars are created in the deepest parts of the universe, we believe that people, too, can rise from their most difficult experiences with strength, resilience, and light. The darkness represents struggle, pain, and challenges — but within that darkness lies the potential to heal, grow, and shine brightly, becoming guiding lights for ourselves and others.

We put this mission into action through our projects. Our mental health support programmes provide free therapy sessions, creative workshops, and self-help resources that empower individuals to process trauma and build resilience. Our community projects ensure that no one is left in the dark — from providing food and essential items to families in need, to delivering independence workshops for care leavers, and creating safe, inclusive spaces where young people and adults can connect, learn, and thrive.

At The Astaris Foundation for Change, we exist to walk with people through their darkest times and help them find the light within themselves. Because we believe that everyone has the potential to shine — and when we shine together, we create lasting change for our communities.
